What is the diameter of a cupcake?

I'm making cupcakes for my DS's birthday & I want to buy hand-decorated cookies (consistent with the party theme) to put on top.  But, I don't know the diameter of a typical homemade cupcake to ensure that the cookies I order will fit on top.  Anyone know?
