Anxiety attacks while pregnant

I take xanax .25 the lowest dose periodically for panic attacks.  I am 8 weeks pregnant and dr. said it is okay for use when attack is significant.  Does anyone have any experience with this.  I am worried

  • are your panic attacks so bad that you can't stay away from meds? I'd suggest that you try if you can, find alternative methods of dealing with them, like breathing techniques
  • I was on Zoloft in the beginning and was told it was ok through 2nd tri... I stopped after about week 6 because I felt great, and I ended up having 3 attacks throughout the pregnancy.

Personally, I hated Xanax because it made me feel so robotic (I know that's a weird description). If your doc says it's ok, that's the best advice you'll probably get. You can double-check with your PCP and your OB to see what each says.

  • I take Klonopin right now for panic attacks and this is my biggest fear of being pregnant, going off the medication.. I think right now the Klonopin helps me to prevent panic attacks because I feel safe knowing I have it and can take it if I'm anxious.. If I knew I coudlnt take it, I think it would make things worse on me.  Let me know what you find out and how things go?  I was almost hoping that once I got pregnant something would click in my head and I would feel less anxious on my own because I would know my baby was most important to me not the medicine.
