GD Fasting Numbers

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do to keep your fasting numbers low first thing in the morning?  I have no problem keeping my numbers where they should be after mealls (as long as I ate what I was supposed to ;) ).  However, my numbers in the morning are always higher than the 95 that the Dr. wants.  I've tried eating nothing, eating carbs, and eating protiens right before bed.  So far, nothing has helped!  Any ideas??

Re: GD Fasting Numbers

  • When I first started my fasting number was always in the low to mid 90's. I tried eating a mini whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and 8 oz of milk and my fasting numbers have stayed between 75 - 85 ever since. I am afraid to eat anything else as my evening snack.

    This, exactly.

  • I have also been having trouble getting my fasting numbers below 95. I started on a low dosage of Glyburide last night. This morning it was 98 and the nurse said it may take up to 5 days to get under control on the meds.
  • My fasting numbers were also higher than what the dr liked seemed nothing I did helped much so they ended up putting me on a low dose of glyburide at night also and it has helped out alot. I've noticed with the fasitng numbers down my other numbers are staying more balanced also. Good Luck
