patient says she was raped by a staff member over a month ago.... the staff member is fired ... charges have been filed against him.... and we, the staff, find out about it through the newspaper. IDK.... I would think that if this happened where we work, that maybe the staff should be notified that something happened... maybe not details... oh and the paper says the hospital has not discussed safety measures. let me just say, I work in a trauma icu... we get the gun shot thugs... our doors are NOT locked! We have people barge in in the middle of the night to get info to go after whoever shot their brother/cousin. we've complained... the only open doors are to the ED and technically people do not have access to the rest of the hospital after 11p (doors are locked)... but they get let in??? how???? it's not a random occurance.
I need a new job. but it's a little discouraging when a hospital nearby just let go of 250 employees (yes nurses included).
Re: you know what's disturbing...
oh gosh, talk about a stressful job.
i love trauma life in the er (ya kow the show), i love medicine. not sure i could actually do it for a living.
or just stupid.
That seems like such a no brainer. When I went to the ER last fall when I was miscarrying, guess who showed up in my room. My mother-in-law! Seriously, I love the woman, but she was the last person I wanted to see.
I couldn't believe the hospital just let her walk through the doors without asking me first. Agh!
