BF and estrogen cream?

has anyone tried this and has it affected your milk supply? i have an appt with my OB next week and want her to prescribe this for me. DH and i have not had successful sex since the night before my water broke. yeah, 4.5 months without sex. we have survived but i really miss that intimacy and connection aspect of our relationship. DH is very understanding about it since anytime we have tried, it hurts sooooo bad because it's so flippin dry in there, but obviously he misses it too. no amount of lube or wine has helped.

i really want to try the estrogen cream but in researching found that it can lower your milk supply and i plan to BF for AT LEAST one year. that and it makes condoms less effective? anyone?

  • I was prescribed it but decided not to take it because of the numerous possible side effects (too worried about baby)...

  • YES.  I didn't use it for a while cause I was concerend about the levels and BFing... but my Doc assured me that it was ok.

I have been using it for a few weeks and the results are awesome (RE: painfree ENJOYABLE sex) and I have not noticed a change in my supply.

BUT... you do have to use it regularly... I have no used it in a week, and sex was a no go a few nights ago cause it hurt.  Consistanticy is key.

  • I used it intermittently for a bit, after DS was 6 months old.  I was thinking I'd start using it more regularly and can my supply fears after DS's first birthday (I should note that this was after talking with DH, and he was frankly so terrified of me getting pregnant, that he was fine with very occasional sex and more frequent "anything but.")

We didn't have "successful" sex until 5 months postpartum!  I was very very low on estrogen.

Things improved on their own, though.  I never used the cream regularly, and we now have a fabulous sex life again.
