Does this sound like a normal feeding schedule??

My 3 week old eats every 2 or 2.5 hours, 4 oz each time...does that not seem like ALOT? He's on formula, so that would make me think that he could go a bit longer than 2 hours on 4 oz...he also only sleeps for 2 hour stretches, but I'm not worried about that so much as the seemingly constant eating.

What do you ladies think?

  • Totally normal.  If you think he may not be hungry try to give him his pacifier.  If he still cries and shows hunger cues feed the boy.

I also have a big eater.  I BF, but rented a scale to do weighed feeds because he'd only eat for 8 minutes. He is eating between 6.2-6.8 ounces in one feed.  He eats 5 times a day because he is STTN.

  • That sounds like DS at that age.

  • My LO also eats 4 oz every 2 to 2.5 hrs as well and eats every last drop! I also thought that she was eating alot for her age but the pedi said it was fine.
