Our's originally started at $10/hr. She got a $0.50/hr raise in Sept and only requested a $0.50/hr increase for taking on a second child so she'll be getting $11/hr when I end my maternity leave. That will end up being $440/week.
A nanny's starting pay here is $10-$12/hour. That doesn't even require exprience. I was a nanny before DD was born and left making $16/hr plus mileage reimbursement, paid vacation, etc.
I am not a nanny, but I am a pediatric RN who is now staying home with our son and we have one on the way.
My husband is a teacher and I watch two teacher's children in my home right now. One of them just had another baby. They pay $150 a week per child ($30 a day) and will pay the same for the second child (making it $300 a week).
I would say, talk to your nanny about it. She may be expecting about the same pay for a second child as she gets for one, or she might not, but I would say to talk with her about it to see. It is hard to determine from answers on here, because child care costs are so different throughout the country. Good luck!
I live in Texas and yes that is a 40 hour week. I will be asking whatt she will charge for two. She is a friends mother who had always kept teachers kids. I got lucky this year that her current family's son was going to school. Thanks ladies. I feel so lucky that we are able to get an affordable nanny!
We currently pay ours the same as you. I am definately not going to pay her double for the second. But we are still working on a fair price. I am thinking maybe an additional $10 - $16 per day.

I'm in MA, so you'll all cry. But I pay her 16/hour for my son, and it will go to 18/hour when my girls come home (they are in the NICU). That's over 700/week.

Holly crap. This would literally be my entire pay check!
that is dirt cheap for a nanny. $25 a day is the going rate for in home day care in my area, i.e. $125 a week per child and most dont give a discount for 2 kids or more kids yet they do watch up to 6 kids depending on the various ages.
Re: Nanny pay when adding the second.
Wow..is $180 for 40 hr/wk?

I would say she should get at least $1-2 raise.
