The doctor's office called this afternoon and said the results from the GTS were abnormal. So, I go for the oh so fun 3 hr test tomorrow.
I'm not confident at all that I'm going to pass.
For those of you who failed the 1 hr but passed the 3 hr what was your level? Mine was 176 and should've been in the 140's.
Re: Failed 1 hr glucomse test - 3 hr test tomorrow
hi Shannon,
Sorry, this just happened to me last week My level was 161 at the one hour.
My level was 161 at the one hour.
If you can I would wait until Friday to take the 3 hour...my Dr. had me eat a 300 grams of carbs per day for three days prior to taking the 3 hour...
It worked, I passed.
Good luck.
My 1 hour was 151, they told me to take 150-200 carbs for 3 days prior to test, I have been diagnosed with GD, just when I starting enjoying ice cream. It's been going good.
 It's been going good.
I hope that your test goes good tomorrow the hardest part is not drinking anything during the test.
My 1 hour was 152 and I failed the 3 hour also. The GD diagnosis is serious. I was very careful to keep my blood sugars down while pregnant which was hard with the holidays. I thought the only thing to worry about for the baby was large size and she could be hypoglocemic(sp) at birth. I was wrong. Teagan has elevated red blood cells due to GD. If they stay high, she is at a risk of a stroke. To help her, we have to bottle feed her every 3 hours to keep her extremely hydrated. I have to pump so we can measure the exact amount of fluid she is getting. She was almost hospitalized Sunday to do IV treatment but her count was down 1 pt. It's been a very emotional week.
GL. I hope you pass the 3 hour.
Shannon, I'm sorry to hear about your test results. Just wanted to say GL and, if you do have GD (which I sincerely hope you don't), then it's best if they catch it as soon as possible. It's not a nice diagnosis at all, but it's better if monitored and controlled. So testing tomorrow is a good thing - no matter what happens, your OB is being careful and looking after you.
Good Luck!
My numbers were different, but I was diagnosed 2 days before Christmas. It was the hardest over the holidays, but now that I know the diet, it is going better and controlling my blood sugar is getting easier.
I hope you pass!!
I hope your daughter gets well really soon. Thank you for the information, they generally just let you know about the larger size and low blood sugar at birth.
