Follicle Measurements and Multiples?

Hi,

I've only posted a few times as since starting our "unexplained" IF journey. I'm wondering about possibility of multiples.... right follicle measured 20.3mm, left follicles measured 18mm and 14mm. I triggered with Novarel tonight; IUI on Thursday. My husband has normal S/A.

This marks our first RE cycle, trying for 16 months. This cycle I did Clomid (days 5-9); HCG trigger.

Anyone with similar numbers that resulted in twins? triplets?

From what I remember (I did a few inj. meds + IUI and trigger cycles)...I think my RE said anything 15 mm and past was considered "mature" follicles; I do remember him saying that they still potentially could mature at time of trigger, so given what yours were in the post, I would think that all 3, if not at least 2 of the follies, could potentially take (if the trigger realeased all of them) and result in multiples (twins, trips).

thanks! I will keep you posted. I was expecting the Dr. to call and advise about multiples, but the nurse called and said everything looked good and trigger tonight. We're nervous and hopeful about my good response!

my RE considers anything over 18 to be mature.

follie size has nothing to do with multiples - but the amount of follies obviously does... so it sounds like you'll have a chance for twins. They'll be sure to check well at your first US if you get a bfp this cycle.

I got pg with Griffin with just one mature follie the day we did our IUI. I got pg with the twins with only 2 mature follies... Prayers that at least one of yours takes!!!

We were unexplained.

I had one follicle resulting in DS#2

when I got pg. with quads (delivered triplets after losing one at 10 weeks)

I should add that different ovulation inducing drugs produce follicles that are mature at different sizes.

ex. Clomid mature follicles are at least 18mm

Inj drugs mature follicles should be around 16mm....

I did 100mg Clomid 3-7 + trigger to get the trio, I had 4 follies (18.5, 16.5, 16 and 13.5) the morning of CD13 I triggered the night of CD14 and did my IUI about 36 hours later, 3 took.

We are trying again right now, same protocol but this time I only have a 21.5, 15 and a 12 on CD14, I will trigger tonight and do the IUI Thursday. I am guessing only my big follie will go but the RE thinks the 15 might too. I would say you for sure have 2 good eggs there. Good luck!

I did injectables and had only 2 measurable follies: a 20 and a 16 that resulted in twins. They didn't think the 16 had ovulated, but surprise!!! It did!!!
