First IUI and question

Hi Ladies!  I'm doing my first IUI this cycle and I'm worried about pain/cramping during and after the procedure.  I've read to expect some mild cramping, but that is what I was told before my SHG and I ended up with severe cramping and vomiting (even though everything was normal).  I think this may have been due to the air they pumped in, but I'm not sure. I was wondering if anyone had really bad cramping after their IUI, especially those that had a painful SHG or HSG?  Did you need to take the day off work, or did it pass quickly?  TIA!

    I had a little cramping but by the time I was at the car to go home, I was fine. I had a little spotting!

    I had cramping after the HSG but not the IUI. My IUI felt comparable to a pap. I did take the day off but that was really nothing more than just not wanting to go to work! : )

    I had some mild cramping.  My RE tells me to take 3 ibuprofen before the IUI.  The cramping doesn't last too long and is pretty tolerable.  Good luck!

    I really didn't feel anything. I did have cramping later in the evening but it went away. I went back to work after. One thing that helped was my nurse used a different speculum that "fit" me better...rather than the "normal" one they use...you could ask about that to help with discomfort if the normal one is causing you pain. 

    (Just an FYI - I had a horrible experience with my HSG, too...I about threw up after and felt sick after it for a few hours. No issues whatsoever with the IUI.)
