I'm probably looking at a c/s under general. I'm a little concerned about how long it would be before I could see/nurse Jude. (Awwww, it's fun to use his name).
Anyway, just wondering what your experience was like.
Gracias.

Every situation is different, so take this with a grain of salt.
Allie had complications and I wasn't able to see her for 9 hours after birth and i had an epi. c/s. Normally, she would be in the room when I got back there. They told us if we had to go under it would a few hours before we would see the baby. (that was my hospitals rules) You are so out of it when you go under, for safety reasons, they didn't want the mom to have the baby.
I've been under multiple times for prev. surgery. So, I'm not concerned about the anesthesia itself, just being isolated from my new baby. But Mr. J and Momma J would be there.
I have a brain malformation and a spinal cyst that could be worsened with labor and/or an epi. It's been discussed and discussed and discussed and is nearing a decision.

Your (or anyone's for that matter) birth choice shouldn't have to be defended.

Whew! I'm so glad you said that. Because the truth is that I just don't want my son to see my vag. Ewwww.

It just drives me nuts, when ppl automatically jump to conclusions and want to ask a million questions about a birth plan. It is no one's business unless they are popping the kid out(mom) or pulling the kid out (doctor/mw).
I was only asking because I was curious, thats all. Even if she said she wanted to have a planned c/s because she wanted it in her schedule I wouldn't have judged. Sorry if it came accross that way.
Do whatever is safe for you and baby Jude. I have never had general anesthesia.
I know this is not the same, but I'm telling you anyway.
I had surgery on my reproductive system a little over 5 years ago. It was laproscopy and lasted about an hour start to finish. There is no way in hell I would have been able to be awake and paying attention to my newborn if said surgery were baby extraction. It was all I could do to get dressed with 2 people helping 2 hours after the surgery was over.
I remember getting in the car, but I don't remember the ride home or how I got into the house. And then I remember falling asleep for an obscene amount of time on the couch, and then eating ramen and trying to watch Starsky and Hutch (I couldn't watch Owen Wilson's fugly face, even drugged). That's about the extent of what I remember that day. And the next day wasn't much better.
I'm not saying don't have it under general, because that's a personal decision that you should make taking into consideration your health issues. I just don't want you to have expectations with Jude that you won't be able to meet. I would bank on not doing any more than seeing his beautiful face before remembering you're drugged out of your mind and passing out to sleep it off.
