  my brother and SIL were just told the same thing at their big u/s and they were giving the same facts.  the doc said he was 99.5% sure everything was fine, but couldn't be 100% without the aminio.  they decided not to do it because the risk of m/c was greate then the risk of downs and are just hoping for the best.  sorry i can't offer any other advice.

  Thank you, it helps to know that another couple was told the same thing (that its most likely normal and will go away)... makes me feel like my Dr. wasn't just trying to make me feel better about it!

  A friend of mine was given the same diagnosis at her big sono and her baby girl came out perfectly healthy and is almost 2 now try not to worry.

  Yes, Kacey had this and it went away on it's own. We were also told the bit about DS and other markers and she did not have any so they told us not to worry. She is perfectly healthy. At the time I posted about it and I got a bunch of responses from people that had it too. I never heard from anyone that actually had a problem from it.

  With DD, they found a white spot on her heart at our big u/s.  They ended up sending us for a level 2 u/s to determine if there were any other markers.  There weren't but because we did not get any of the first tri testing, when we met with the geneticist (our request), they gave us a 1/200 chance of Downs.  We cried for awhile and then realized that there are much worse things out there than Downs that they don't even test for.  We decided not to let it ruin the rest of the pregnancy.  We ended up not telling anyone about the spot so no one else had to have the unnecessary stress.  I can tell you that on delivery day, DD came out and Downs did not even cross my mind.  DD does not have Downs but I honestly don't think it would have mattered if she did.  With this baby, I truly doubt that we will be getting the first tri testing even though it might mean a lower number if something comes up at the big u/s.  It really ended up being a needless stressor for us.  Good luck.  If your doctor is not worried about it (ours wasn't really either) and you had no other markers you are most likely fine.

  I was told that DS had this during an u/s. I was alone at the time since no one could come with me and even though he is perfectly fine now I still get upset thinking about it all. It was very difficult to hear and I somehow kept it together in the dr.'s office but I completely lost it in the parking lot. DH and I went to speak with a genetic counselor to understand more and my ob strongly urged me not to get an amnio b/c of the risks.

  After I called my ob crying and admitting that I looked related things up on the Internet he pointed out that this is something that anyone of us could have and that basically technology works faster than people can and we don't have answers to explain or know what to do with the information that all this equipment can identify.

  I didn't think twice about anything when DS was born until my mom suggested that I speak with his pediatrician about it. DS was given a more extensive examine and some tests on his heart before we left the hospital and all was fine.
