So one of my showers is held in a different city than mine. We are only registered at BRU and Buy Buy Baby. In the different city there is a BRU but not BBB.
My shower hosts have asked me to register at Target because the BRU in this city is "far away". I am very familiar with said city and it's not - from the area where most of the attendees live, they are both about 20 minutes, just in opposite directions. Still, I don't want to inconvenience anyone - if it really is a big deal to get to the BRU I don't want people to have to do that just for my shower or anything.
But I think it is sort of odd to ask me to register at a completely different place. I have looked @ Target and very few of the remaining items on my registry are there. Also, we are Team Green so it's not like I can just throw a bunch of clothes on there and be done. We already have so many yellow and green 0-3 gowns, sleepers, etc. Plus, I have heard really bad things about Target's return policy, and if I registered there I'd only be doing it to appease the hosts, and would likely end up returning most of the stuff.
I do want to be gracious to the people attending the shower but WWYD?
Re: Shower hosts asking me to change registry - WWYD?
I'd thank them for their input and politely decline. You have registered...there is such a thing as online ordering....and you don't want to have to deal with the crappy returns policy at Target. If it is not convenient for people to get to places, then they can register for a gift card online - no shipping or processing fees.
Do you have gift cards welcome listed on all of your registries?
Just my 2c.
I would not change my registry. The guests can always purchase an item off your registry online and get it shipped to you or them (if they prefer to bring a gift to the shower with them).?
?
THIS exactly! Don't stress over this!
This 100%! If you had wanted to register at Target, then you would have. I would leave your registries where they are and people can order online if they have a problem. The BRU near where I'm from is about 25 minutes away from where most people live but I still got shower presents from there. (as well as other stores, including Target.)
If it were me, I'd probably register for a few things at Target.
Honestly, those people are probably going to shop at Target anyway. Wouldn't you rather them at least have the option to get something that you need/want?
Also, although their return policy isn't the best, if someone buys you something from there, the best shot you have at returning it is if you're registered there and you can add it to you registry before you return it.
What nerve! Absolutely do not change a thing.. As everyone else has suggeted, point to the online ordering option, and maybe politely note that you chose those two stores because they had what you specifically were looking for and also have the best policies for returns and exchanges.
I registered at the same two places -- mostly at Buy Buy Baby actually -- and suspect some might wish I went with a chain that had more locations, but I'm not willing to change it. Actually, my shower is less than 3 weeks away and very little has been purchased off either registry, which makes me think people opted to not buy from it anyway.. sorta disappointing in itself.
Exactly my sentiment! Don't people order online anyway? I avoid going to BRU at all costs!
I think what she is asking is crazy. There is a think now a days called, shopping online. Buy Buy Baby is online if your guest can't get to the store. There is no need for you to register somewhere else. For the last shower, I had to travel a half an hour to get to a BRU, then my mom suggested for another shower we are going to, to go online to purchase the item and it had free shipping.
Also, I registered at Target for my wedding and I couldn't take things back if I didn't have a reciept and the item was over $20. Don't do it. We were stuck with a laundry sorter in our garage that was too big for our laundry room because my cousin did not provide a gift reciept.
Good Luck! If it was me, I would just tell her that those are the major stores, and you already registered there. I don't think the guest will really have a problem.
