3rd Trimester

Recommend some good books, please!

I found out yesterday that until further notice I have to be out of work and on modified bed rest because my BP is super high-- I am allowed to make a trip out to the library today to pick up a few books and diversions...there is only so much TV a gal can watch!

Can you recommend a few good books to me?  Thanks ladies!

  • "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCarthy, it's so funny!

  • Twilight Series if you haven't read it yet.  I didn't think I'd like it and I've read them all twice now!

  • I've been reading a REALLY good book called Shantaram and it's by Gregory David Roberts. I have our library's copy out on loan now and am almost done with it. Highly recommend it if you can get your hands on a copy!

  • If your interested in this type of thing I loved "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" by Mary Roach.  Also second the Twilight series and books by Jodi Piccolt

Oh and my absolute favorite book "1984" by George Orwell

  • Sorry to hear you've been put on bedrest.  Don't worry, the first week is the worst, then you get into a pattern and time flies by.  I've been on modified bed rest and off work since 14wks!  Hop over to the high-risk board.  We have a daily bedrest mama's check-in that's really nice and there are a lot of high BP girls there to support and answer questions.

Some hints to keep sane:  pick a series of books to read.  I like Janet Evonvich's Plum series or if you like romances JD Robb has a fun Series.  Also, get Netflix.  Then you can get movies at home as well as stream some onto your computer.  They have some good birthing ones, like "the Buisness of Being Born".

Good Luck and take it easy!  Keep that baby cooking!

  • "Jane Eyre" by Bronte has always been a favorite of mine.  "Wishful Drinking" by Carrie Fisher is super funny.  I agree with the "Twilight" books.  I did not think that I would like them as much as I did!  Agatha Christie mysteries are fun reads and some of her books are several short stories.  Very easy to put down and some back to later.  Joanne Fluke has written some fun murder mysteries that are all food titled.  The first in the series is "The Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder".  Each book contains recipes too. If you like "True Blood" on HBO.  Charlaine Harris's books are really good.

Good luck on bed rest.  I hope that you have your baby soon!
