Trying to Get Pregnant

Can... not... get... rid... of...

these horrible hiccups! I'm on my lunch break, and my students come back in about 15 minutes! Yikes! Any quick remedies? Holding my breath doesn't seem to work!

  • Sip water slowly through a paper towel.

  • Loading the player...
  • Eat a spoonful of sugar..
  • My SIL swears that eating a packet of sugar gets rid of the hiccups. I have never tried it myself though.

  • Get someone to scare the crap out of you! I can vouch for it, it works!

  • When I was a bartender we always recommend sucking a lemon or eating a spoonful of sugar (it helps the medicine go down, but does it make the hiccups go away?)...good luck.

  • The only thing that works from DH and I is drinking water upside down.
  • Drink water upside down.

To do this, I take a mouthfull of water (or other non-carbonated beverage) and bend over at the waist. When you're in position, swallow.

I've never had this fail for me. GL!

  • Take nine small sips of a beverage and one big gulp, all one-after-the-other.  Good luck!

I have NEVER heard of this before...

    BUT it works!

I looked a little silly doing it, but the hiccups are GONE!

    Thanks!

  • I get them very bad, and they're painful. The stuff in you (I forget what it's called) gets 'confused' and so you just need to slow down in essence to calm that 'stuff' down. Take very deep, slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth, and count backwards by three's -- to focus your mind elsewhere.

  • Drink some water with your fingers in your ears.  It's a trick, but it can be done.  This works for me.

This has always worked for me! Except some times I have to do two packets.

Yes! I was once in line waiting to check out and some lady turned around and made me do it - it worked!
