AuNatural Birth Mamas Check-in Group
AuNatural Birth Mamas Check-in Group
The purpose of this group is to motivate and encourage other moms
trying to achieve their goal of having a med-free and/or intervention
free birth experience. Our roster, birth stories and resources are currently linked in my bio, click there for more information.
I'll try to post a check-in everyday on the 3rd tri board with a link on the 2nd tri. Feel free to add links on any other boards you feel it might be useful. If you have suggestions or a question you?d like to see the group answer PM me and I?ll likely use it in the near future as I?m sure I?ll run out of questions. Remember, even if you've checked in and responded to the days question check back throughout the day to see what the other members are sharing.
If you're interested in joining the group just respond to any of the check-ins with your EDD, team and any information you'd like to share regarding your birth location or choice of method. If you have a birth story to share please send me the link too and I'll include that here in our roster information.
************************************************************
*I still have to update my bio with our new members from Friday. NurseMegan, if you
see this I need your EDD though, I don't know where to put you on the
list.
**I'm hoping to not be here much longer. So I'm looking for someone interested in taking over the check-ins. If you're interested please let me know here or a PM. I'll make sure to check them.**
QOTD: Share a positive thought for the day. How do you think focusing on what is good is helpful during pregnancy and into L&D?
Re: *~*AuNaturals Check-in*~*
The QOTD is very apropos, I just said to my husband last night that we have to start thinking positive birth thoughts, since I'm getting discouraged by everyone predicting induction for me.
I think being relaxed is key to progressing naturally through labor, and I do believe that harboring negative thoughts could slow the process down, so I really want to stay focused on a positive birth experience.
Please add us!!
JordenandKristin, Team unknown (we'll find out friday!!), May 23!!
Thanks!
Hey, my name is Chelsea. My EDD is March 28. I hope to not be induced or need pain meds. My plan is to stick it out as long as I can which is hopefully to the end. I have had several kidney stones in the past and from what I hear it is a very similar pain.
I know that when the body tenses up, that is when pain, in any situation, hurts the most. So, I like what ibis said about being relaxed. I have loved being pregnant and I keep the complaints at a minimum for my sake and for the sake of those around me. I can't stand those whiny pregnant women who pretty much walk around saying, "Woe is me." Having a life inside me is the most incredible thing I have ever experienced! I guess that is my positive thought of the day.
EDIT: We are team blue
I 100% agree, I try to envision a healthy happy labor and birth and of course baby. I try to think of all the good postive things, the hopefully easy recovery post birth. I've seen a bunch of natural birth videos and some of those women are so "in the moment" or "in the zone" I hope to achive that too.

I completely agree with ibis - I think it's really important to be relaxed so that your body's natural instincts can take over.
It's also contagious. If someone asks you if you feel tired, or unwell, don't you think "well, maybe I do feel ..." I think if you can be positive, then people around you are more likely to be positive too.
I think so many people get caught up with the "what ifs" that they forget to enjoy themselves.
Ditto, I'm just following in ibis's path today. I'm afraid some worries have been creeping in a holding me back from progressing. I thought a reminder for positive thinking might help us all today.
I'm trying to envision positive things happening this week. Plus I am thankful that I have time off right now to be at home. I can spend time with DS1 and relax when I need to too.
I think I'm going to work on reciting Philippians 4:8-9 as well.
Hello! I'm not sure if I'm on the list or not.
ErinKate23, team blue, March 23 (my birthday!)
I absolutely think a positive outlook is VITAL to a happy pregnancy and uncomplicated labor. Fear = tension = pain, right?
I listen to a "pregnancy affirmations" cd every day as part of my hypnobabies class. At first, it felt really hokey, but given all the incredibly negative stuff that's out there about pregnancy and birth, you need positive things to remind you that the TV portrayals of labor are meant to be "suspensful" and to draw viewers, and they're NOT normal.
Positive thoughts make a positive outcome more likely. You actually do have control over your body!
Oh, and to add me to to the list:
Hospital birth with midwife and doula - waterbirth, hypnosis.
Hello, I would love to join the group. My name is Missy, marriedinaugust, EDD 4/30/10, Team Blue, hospital birth, Bradley Method.
We just started our birthing classes and are finding the relaxation a tad difficult. My husband always seems to make me laugh! I hope with more practice we will get better. Any advice is absolutely welcome!
As for the QOTD: I don't have any specific positive thoughts but every day I catch myself thinking what if this goes wrong or that goes wrong. That's when I sit back and tell myself that the chances of things going wrong are very slim and that is what we are preparing for. Chances are things will be just fine but if something doesn't go quite as planned I know we will be prepared to handle it.
