Trying to Get Pregnant

Feeling old?

Good morning all, not sure if I'm just having a crappy day (well I know I am), but man do I feel like my life is moving so fast.  I'm 33, married, no children- want children but am scared it's never going to happen.  I just told a co-worker that if we could only turn back time, I would have started this baby making business years ago.

Maybe I'm just gonna have one of those days, but it sure sucks, should have stayed home today!

Thanks for listening.

Re: Feeling old?

  • Not to take away from your bad day, but The Bump ovulation tickers are worthless.  Are you charting, using OPK's or being proactive about your reproductive health?

  • Don't start beating yourself up now - I am 31 and keep wishing I had started earlier.  But you can't turn back time, so don't wish away the future now.  If you weren't ready before you were 33 you weren't ready.  Nothing wrong with that!
  • 33 isn't that old actually. Most health care professionals use 35 as the AMA (advanced maternal age) indicator, but even so many many people have success well past that. Go look at the Pregnant after 35 board, you'll see success stories into 40s.

If you want to have a better shot at things, suggest charting your BBT, using OPKS. Ovulation calendars are useless.

Also read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertiity. GL to you!

  • I completely agree with you. I'm 33 as well and we have only been TTC for about 5 months. I guess we both just sort of thought it would "happen" and we wouldn't have to wait or work at it. I wish we had started sooner too.

or 40.   I found out while pregnant that Kaiser doesn't consider it AMA until 40.

I know the tickers are useless, just haven't taken mine out yet.  I am interested in charting but have not started yet-seems very overwhelming, once I do I will ask you ladies to look at it though, if you don't mind.

Here's to a better day Drinks

  • Sorry you are having a bad day, I am 30 and DH is 33, and it seems like everyone around us has kids or is KU.

I definitely agree with pp to take charge of your reproductive health, chart, etc. All of that will help you to at least know some of what is going on with your body.

Interesting! I'm all for that :)

  • I'm 34 - and I'm glad we waited this long.  I don't know if I would've been ready to handle a baby in my 20's.

My coworker just had a beautiful and healthy baby - and she's 39.  There's still plenty of time!
