Help a 2nd trier out re:registry

Hey ladies! I was reading in Baby Bargains about how big and bulky the travel systems can be, and they highly recommened getting a stroller frame, or a lightweight stroller, etc. at first. For those who started out from the beginning with a travel system, did you like it? Did you think it was too big and heavy? Do you feel it works well for outside walks? I am specifically looking at Graco.

I plan to post this on 3-6 as well. Thanks!

  • I have a Graco travel system and I love it. I had to go to OB after being home for 3 days to get my staples out and I had to use the travel system. I didn't think it was heavy at all. They are bulky and do take up alot of room in trunk but it is well worth it to me.

  • I don't have a travel system but I love my snap and go! Not only did I use it for DD1, but I loaned it to a friend and she used it for nearly a year and it is still in perfect condition for DD2.?
  • Personally, I like the Chicco better than the Graco.  It is cozier.  We have used a travel system with all three kids. The first time I had a Graco one.  I think that the travel system is sturdier.  If you are planning on walking a lot with the stroller, just get the system.  I didn't get a jogging stroller, and my system has been pretty tough.
  • I have a graco and like it. I've used it a lot surprisingly! I also bought a snap n' go off of craigslist for $10 and we leave it in DH's car. Look for a used one if you're on the fence.

EDIT: the graco is big and bulky, but I deal with it!

  • I bought the Graco travel system with DD.  It was very useful at the time and we have a SUV so being bulky didn't matter.  When DD was about 8 months old I started walking to help lose the extra baby weight I was still carrying.  The Graco DID NOT hold up well outside.  The front wheels shook like crazy when I walked fast...forget about running.  For my Bday, DH bought me a jeep jogger stroller and I love it!!!!!  It works both indoors and out.  When DS was born I discovered I could put his carseat into the Jeep Jogger.  So my recommendation is if you know you're going to want to walk/run outside, skip the travel system and just get the jogger.  It will save you money in the long run and works just the same!

  • I have a Chicco TS and love it.  Yes it is kind of bulky, but it really isn't heavy.  I was scared to go with a snap and go because I was afraid of buying something and not being compatible with my car seat and it seemed more economical to purchase the whole TS.  My Chicco Cortina is so easy to push and steer and it does fold up very easy.
