Pregnant after 35

New here - anyone over 40 and pregnant?

Hi!  I used to pop in over here now and then when I was pregnant, but my home is Success after Infertility (DH is infertile).  I was very fortunate to conceive via IUI (unmedicated) with donor sperm on the 1st try.  I was 39 at conception, and DS was born 6 days after my 40th birthday.  We are thinking about TTC #2 but I am nervous because I know things can go downhill fast when it comes to fertility at my age.  Have an appt. with my ob/gyn next month to check hormone levels and such.  I am 41 now; would be 42 at delivery if we were successful this year.

Any other 40-somethings on here??

Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!

  • hi,

Welcome and congrats on your beautiful baby boy!  I am 45, due with my first in April.  Completely natural pregnancy, after removing one ovary, enduring two miscarriages, we finally have our miracle.

Have had a few issues, had a cerclage placed at 24 weeks and am now on modified bed rest, but other than that, everything is fine.

    Good luck!

  • congratulations! :)

I will have #2 a month before I turn 40.  I have a friend who has 5 children (think very wealthy and lots of help)--anyway--she had her last 3 children after 40 and said if her DH would let her she wants a #6.  lol

all of her kids are healthy and perfect and she is an amazing mom. I think having kids when you're "older" gives you more of a sense of peace and of course more patience! :)

good luck! :)  remember 40 IS the new 30! ;)

  • Hi Darlin'--42 here and just had my second 5 weeks ago (had my first at 38).  Both pregnancies were completely natural (no meds or interventions) and FAST--first try for the first one, 2 months for the second. It can be done!!! Good luck on going for number 2--we're sorta tossin' around the idea of number 3, but I'm so not sold on that yet!!

WOW, you all are so inspirational, I feel honored to be on the board.  I just turned 41, and got my BFP today.  DS#1 is 16 months.  I agree, 40 is the new 30!!

  • I'm 42 and will be 43 when I have this baby.  I had my first at 40.  I did IVF with both but not due to age- it had to do with DH's sperm numbers being very low.

2 of my friends had babies this year- one is 41 and one is 42.  Both were conceived without medical intervention.

I'm so glad to see so many 40+ women here. I always feel like I'm the oldest on the boards!

3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again

  • Welcome!

I am 42 and our little girl is almost here.  We conceived with no help (okay it was two glasses of wine and a bad movie on TV), and everything seems to be going really well, with no health issues.

  • Had first right before my 41st birthday.  Pregnant now at 42, due to deliver right before my 43rd.

For me, this is it.  We've had a m/c in between, and I don't personally want to do PG at 43+.

    Best wishes!

  • I'm 42 and pg with my first (got pg after 7 months of trying).  So far, so good!  Just had the NT scan today and, of course, I don't have the results back yet, but the nurse said everything looked good.  So, we are very prayerful that all is well.  My two grandmothers had their last babies at 42.  So, reflecting back on their experiences keeps me very positive.

Congrats to you and know that you are not alone!!  GL!

  • I am 45 and expecting my first child July 13. I am 16 weeks and just getting over morning sickness and feeling much better this week. I am so happy to be here and find out that I'm not alone in this.
