? about babies sleeping in car seat

Do you buckle them in and then add a blanket? or just swaddle and place them down in it?  DD sleeps great in hers when we're out and about and we want to see if she'll sleep in it tonight.

We plan to try several things - including an inclined snuggle nest (she won't sleep in it if it's flat)

She's only happy sleeping on us at night except when we let her sleep in her boppy when we've placed a folded blanket in the base for extra support and a blanket across the entire thing to make it more like a hammock than a hole she can fall down into - even though she sleeps comfortably, I'm constantly checking her to see if she is ok and I just want something that feels safer to me.

Any suggestions for newborn sleep options are appreciated. (we don't have a swing or bouncer as of right now)

Thanks!

  • We don't buckle him in when he's just sleeping in it in the house.  We have a BundleMe in the seat so he just lies on top of that and I put a little blanket over him.  All the cushion of hte BundleMe seems to be really cozy for him so if you don't have one, maybe put a blanket under LO to make it soft and cozy.

Also, I got this cuddle-u pillow as a shower gift and LOVE it.  It's just like a boppy only there is a strap that comes out and holds baby in from sinking into the hole.  Very helpful for times when he's napped beside me because our boy is like your LO, doesn't want to be flat.

  • Babies aren't supposed to sleep in their carseats on a regular basis because it puts added pressure on the spine and their limbs are confined.  that being said, there have been a few rough nights when I put my LO in his carseat and rocked him to sleep.  I wouldn't use it on a regular basis to help, but once and a while probably won't hurt.

Have you tried swaddling?  We would swaddle DS very tight and then roll blankets and bumper him in his bassinett so that he was snuggled in tightly and this seemed to help quite a bit.

    Good Luck.
