DD hasn't been eating much of anything for over a week now. I can get her to eat fruit but that's pretty much the extent of it. She looks thinner to me so I weighed her this afternoon and is down a couple of pounds since she was last weighed about a month ago. I don't know if this is normal or if I should be concerned. I know that toddlers go through stages of not eating and being picky but just need to be reassured. TIA!
Re: When are do you get concerned that your toddler is not eating?
A few months ago I couldn't get DS to eat ANYTHING except yogurt for 2 weeks. He definiely lost weight, though I don't know how much. Turns out it was because he was cutting his canines. After they broke through the skin he started eating again and now he's eating a ton.
Does she have all of her teeth?
Thanks for the responses! I did check her temperature to make sure that she's not eating due to an illness but her fever is fine so I haven't even thought about an ear infection. She's also never had an ear infection so I don't think that's it. She has 2 canine teeth coming in but they have been coming in for a month now (her teeth take forever!). So, that could still be it especially since she only seems to want soft things.
I'm worried about a stomach bug too because she has had loose stools and even threw up once, although i think that was becuase she wasn't chewing her food properly so it made her gag.
I bet you anything this is it. Canines are the devil.
My dentist said DS must have been SO uncomfortable getting his in so early- they are huge teeth.
Without weight loss I wouldn't be concerned. Toddlers are known for being very off and on with eating habits. H gets a med twice a day to make her eat more, and she still goes through phases where she hardly eats anything.
