::BunkBeds::

I was just wondering what age is suitable for bunkbeds? My sister in law is getting one for her 3 yr and 1 1/2... I feel it's too young, but that's prob because my 3 year old still wakes up to go potty, and my main concern is missing the ladder and falling... any thoughts?

Re: ::BunkBeds::

  • That seems pretty young to me. Our godson just got a bunkbed and he is 5 which I think is probably a good age.

  • Our friends have them for their little boys. They will be 4 (in June) and 2 (in April). So far they have done fine with them.

  • When I answered I was thinking of my little brother who will be 4 in May and he could NOT handle the bunk bed...he woudl be jumping from them!! BUT I just thought of my nephew who will be 4 in March and he could totally handle them. SO I guess it really just depends on the kid.

  • We got them this summer.  DD1 was almost 4 and DD2 was 20 mo.  I had no intentions of moving DD2 in w/ her sis so soon, but she had other plans.  DD1 wakes about 50% of the time to pee at night and does fine.  DD2 has to have a bright night light, so that helps a lot.
  • Ya, thats what my DH and I just talked about. It really depends on the child. My lil girl is hyper and a lil daredevil but my sister-in-laws son is low key. We shall see.. I am just always worried about her hurting herself, trial and error I guess.
