Re: So i found this on 3rd tri

  • I'm sure nobody talks about it cause they are still complaining about 2nd tri stuff...and further more if we are in the "happy" stage of pregnancy, who wants to think about that unfun post baby stuff!  Sigh, eventually we have to accept its coming!  haha
  • Loading the player...
  • dont be scared. hehe.?

The OB nurses will take good care of you - for now, pretend like frozen tucks pads, ice filled pads & mesh panties dont even exist ;)

    ?

  • Funny you should bring this up. I'm more scared of having an episiotomy and stitches down there than anything!
  • Because in 2nd tri I don't think about all the after effects of the birth, because birth isn't for another 20ish weeks...which is a long time in my book. I think about all the stuff to get for LO. PLUS why be scared for 2 entire trimesters... when you can just be scared for 1? Just my opinion.
  • Yikes, good to know!

  • Luckily its rare to do episiotomies anymore (to the PP who is afraid of them).

Yes you might tear, but in most cases its not a huge deal (from what I understand).

  • All I can say is HOLY CRAP!!!!!! Having placenta previa and may not be all that bad a c-section sounds like a walk in the park compared to the horrific things they were talking about lol I dont even want to think about that stuff

  • There are things that will happen during labor/delivery/recovery that you never even came close to imagining.  The best advice I can give is to just not think about it.
  • Oooh boy...here comes the panic attack!   I have been doing my best to avoid reading about stuff that will happen later on and the whole labor and after birth business but I just couldn't resist reading and its freakin me out to think about my business tearing!  Ugh!

  • LOL I clicked on the crotch care 101 link, printed it out and put it in my notebook to save for later.

That was a wealth of info!

yes but not thinking about it could potentially make you unprepared, and i would rather be prepared than clueless

I know why no one talks about it, because honestly who would want to, but i think that it is good information to know so that you have at least some idea of what could/will happen and how to take care of it as opposed to only getting the info the nurses give you at the hospital and being clueless once you get home.  just my opinion.

  • oh, so you want me to avoid telling you about my 4th degree that was so severe that i am not allowed to have a vaginal delivery again?  lol.

     i'll spare you.  :)

  • I think it does help to have some knowledge ahead of time so you can have some supplies ready, but try not to worry/think about it too much.  There are things that just plain suck, but you get through it...bottom line, you don't have much choice!

  • Oh goodness!  Don't think about this stuff yet!

The nurses take good care of you and give you stuff to take home.  Oh and it will be funny to listen to DH's story when you send him to the drugstore for more of the stuff you need for down there.  My DH came back with $70 worth of stuff!  haha!  The Dermoplast spray is the best and can't find that at Walgreens.....so get an extra from the hospital!

  • It's really not a big deal. YOu'll be fine and way more preoccupied with baby and lack of sleep.
  • Yah, I looked like I got punched in the girly parts afterward ~ I had a 'fat lip'! and my BFF's labia actually TORE! Can you imagine!!!!
  • yea i wish someone would have told me, i was totally unprepared.

the sitz bath, peri bottle. dermoplast and tucks will be your best friends!

  • I'm more heartily praying for a c-section after reading that... Stitches and ab pain I can deal with.

Honestly, pick up any pregnancy book. Its all in there. Thats how  I learned about most of it the first time.

  • Great. Now I'm having flashbacks. Tucks was my best friend. And a donut pillow.

Actually, a vaginal birth has a much quicker recovery time then an c-section. I know when SIL had her c-section she couldn't bend over to pick up nephew and couldn't just get up and help quickly either.

  • Yep, scary.  My girlfriend got so ripped up she had to have physical therapy for her lady parts!!!   And no sex for a very long time, of course.  I've been pretty terrified of that part of the labor process ever since hearing about her labor, and continue to just pray to God that the tearing won't be *too* bad.
