Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How long did you keep LO in?

Our pedi said no church/large crowds for 6 wks but we could use our discretion otherwise as far as getting her out. Just curious to see what everyone else is doing as far as keeping LO in? TIA

Re: How long did you keep LO in?

  • Well I had to take him to the hospital when he was less than a week old, but that wasn't by choice.

We started taking him shopping and stuff when he was around 2.5 weeks old.

  • I took him to Target at 2 weeks old cause we needed diapers and my DH was already back at work. Its seriously not a big deal as long as you cover them up. I am very particular even at 2.5 months old to letting people touch him or talk to them. Basically unless I KNOW you, you can not touch him. You'd be surprised how many times I've had to push someones hand away from him. When thats the case you just gotta be strong and say, please don't touch my baby.
  • If I wasn't allowed to go to large crowds for 6 weeks I would have gone nuts! DS went to the store with us and did some Christmas shopping. Everyone is different though and what we did may not work for you. Do what you think is right.
  • Sorry girls didn't mean to post this twice!! My blackberry is messed up :( There is another post further down...
  • I started taking LO out at about 5 weeks. But I kept her in the sling the whole time.
  • Last week was the 1st time the LOs got out besides the pedi.  Seriously i dont know if its bc i have twins but people feel the need to be nosey and look in the stroller.  they are lucky they didnt try to touch!!! All we did was go food shopping and i dont think there was one isle where someone wasnt butting in.  soo since there is two and i certainly dont want to deal w/ 2 sick babies i am extra cautious.
  • Less than a week? I think when we got released from the hospital we spent the next day inside, but went out the following day to kmart for formula and diapers, and then out to eat afterwards. We've had no problems with people touching him or anything.

  • We took DD out at around 3 weeks or so. I had a panic attack the whole time.  Now when we go out I'm somewhat ok with it.  I just make sure I have her bundle me up around her so that no strangers feel the need to come and touch her.

  • We went out to lunch with LO after her 1 week pedi appointment.  We went to the mall on Saturday.
  • It is easy with baby number one to keep them in.  With number three, it is all but impossible.  I had to take him out within a week of his birth.  I had to pick my dd up at daycare, so after that I wasn't worried about anything.  Nothing is worse than that!
  • We went to target at 3 days old... and have been out and about ever since with no problems... obviously we are careful and dont let anyone touch her. She's already been to a wedding and a funeral! But do whatever you feel comfortable with!
  • We've gone to Target and to our parents homes. At 4 weeks, I think we'll try church.

right now, I feel fine about restaurants, shopping, etc. We just keep her covered.

  • 1 week for the pedi appointment, and then have taken him out to Target and a quick grocery trip at about 2 weeks. I keep him in the sling, so no one bothers me. I'd love to take him out to eat or something, but he's pretty fussy. We tried to go out once with him in his carseat, he was asleep when we walked in,  and had to quickly exit because he started screaming.

  • Aside from his pedi appointment when he was one week old, we didn't take him out until he was seven weeks and even now we only take him out on every once in awhile. Once it warms up we'll probably start taking him out more often.
