I dont see any other names being the first name for Sully other than Sullivan...would you ever do Sullivan as the middle name...lots of nicknames are from the middle name too.

I agree with this, and think the middle name as Sullivan is a good idea!
Why not? If you know that you will always call him Sully, it makes more sense to name him that than to try to find a name you may or may not like that it could be a nickname for. I think Sully is cute. It kinda reminds me of Monsters, Inc.

sorry, i really don't like sully (it was a construction worker muppet on sesame street with big ugly mustache!), but i am fairly certain that it's traditionally a nn of sullivan (which i like better!). i really think that construction worker tainted the name for me, plus it reminds of "sullen."
Re: I like this nickname ... what would the first name be?
I've put a wee bit of thought into this as well, since I love the nickname Sully. Though I do like Sullivan
-Sutton
-Solomon
-Sebastian (Ok, maybe not really, but in my mind it would work)
-Silas

Sullivan and Silas are the two that I know of. I like Sully by itself.
I think Solomon could work if you just called him Sully.
I like Sullivan.
or just call him Sully.. that works.
I like this idea too.
That was my thought!
I usually don't like nicknames as given names, but in this case I think Sully could stand fine on its own.
