Anyone Actually Looking Forward to Visitors?

My SIL is going to come up for two weeks after the baby is born.   I'm really looking forward to her help.  She's staying at my mom's house, it's about 20 minutes away.  I know the two of them will be helpful, ie cleaning the house and fixing meals.  My mom bf both my older brother and me so, I'm hoping she'll be helpful with me learning that.

I know DH's parents will want to come by just to hold the baby but, I don't think that will be so stressful with mom and SIL to keep them in check.

  • I am looking forward to my cousin coming...I don't have my parents anymore, and DH's parents would stress me out. My cousin is more like my sister, and I am counting on her to show me the ropes, and help me figure out breastfeeding. And bonus...she is a labor and delivery nurse so she won't be mad at me if I get pissy during labor lol Embarrassed

  • My mom stayed with us for a week after DD1 was born, and she'll do the same this time. I loved having her there to help out around the house so that I could take care of myself and the baby, so I'm looking forward to it again. Our first day home, my parents and siblings spent the day with us and made us dinner; the next day, H's parents and siblings came over and made us dinner. Then we had scattered friends and family come over in the next couple weeks, and I was happy to have them all since they all were polite enough to call ahead. We were never inundated with a houseful of uninvited guests, thankfully.

  • I loved having visitors when DD was a newborn... I missed them when the visits started to dwindle....

  • My SIL is coming down right after I deliver and is staying with us. She is the one with the most recent kids and I'm glad she will be around. She will only be here for 4 days and then will go back to TX. My brother may also be making an appearence in March, he is currently overseas and it would be a miracle if he gets to come to cali to see his first nephew.

We were planning on flying out there, but he may be able to get to us. We are crossing our fingers and toes.

  • I loved my mom being here to help for 2 weeks after DS is born.  She is coming again this time.  She helps out soooo much around the house (and she's a great cook) and I can just spend time with my baby and son.  Plus, she takes of me - gives me foot and scalp massages - it's great.

  • I'm excited :) I am a social person and I think the first few weeks of being a mommy of twins is going to be VERY different for me even though I am SO excited!!! My biggest worry is making sure as I learn to hold my baby boys and move around with them (especially if I have to have a c-section), that I keep them safe. My DH doesn't get much time off work, and so I am really happy that my mom is coming for a month afterwards. Luckily I have the kind of relationship with my mom that I can tell her if it gets to be too much (and she has already told me she wants to be there to help not get in the way). My MIL and FIL have already been amazing and they live about 15 minutes away. I also have the type of relationship with them that I can say when enough is enough. Knowing that, I am more than happy to have them come bond with my boys :)
  • I can't wait for visitors. I think I would go mad if I didn't have anyone to talk to besides DH. Also, I know my aunts, grandma, and MILs will be great at helping with LO and around the house.
  • I am! My IL's are coming in from out of town...not sure how long they are staying but I am so excited. I heard you weren't supposed to travel with LO for the first 2 weeks, so we have to wait until then to take him to visit the rest of the family.Sad

And, when I am in the hospital, I told everyone to come visit me. I work at the hospital I am delivering at, so I hope all my co-workers stop by so I can "show-off" my LO.

  • I am excited, only because we live in Hawaii and both our families live in Ohio and Georgia. But while my dad, who lives in GA, will be visiting most often, it will be nice for my mom and Dh's mom to come out and see their grand baby.

I dont know if I would be so excited if we still lived back in Ohio. LOL

  • I can't wait to have family come up! My family is all in RI (I'm in CT) and I can't wait to have them with us, my sister is a teacher and said she'll come up during april vaca and she'll probably bring my mom too. I don't know how long everyone will stay. I know they all plan on driving up when we go to the hospital and they'll stay at our house while we're in the hospital and then probably leave when we come home and then come back up in a week or two.... we haven't really discussed it in too much detail. DH's family is all instate so I'm sure they'll be around.
  • Yes!! I miss my mom and little sister terribly! I can't wait for them to come, even though they'll only be able to stay for a couple days. It really kind of annoys me to see everyone complaining about all their family coming to help and stuff when there are people like us who are excited or don't have the option to have all kinds of family come and help!
  • I am just about to leave to pick up my MIL from the airport.  I am thrilled she is coming.  She is a huge help around the house, with my DD, and I just enjoy her company.  I will be sad when she leaves!
  • I'm looking forward to one specific visitor, my mum is flying in the week after my due date and I haven't seen her in 18 months.  I am definately going to be able to put up with her for 2 weeks!!

Other than that, as long as they are planning on helping, even just holding LO if I need to shower/nap/breathe, that's fine with me - I've come to the realization that they are just excited, and as time passes, they will calm down!
