Ugh. Just got the results of my 1-hr glucose test back. I failed.
It's not a total shock-- I figured I had probably failed since I took my blood sugar on my home test kit right after they drew my blood, and it was 174 (anything over 140 is failing). Now I have to do the 3-hour... just waiting for a call from the nurse to tell me how/when to schedule it. What a bummer. I really hope I don't have GD (knock on wood!!).
Apparently my iron came back low as well, so they're putting me on iron supplements. Fun!
Re: failed the 1-hour
Ugh
Sorry to hear that. I know someone who managed they gd very well through diet and exercise so perhaps you will be able to get it under control again.
Raisins are a great source of Iron as is spinach so try to eat more of that and increase your fiber the iron sup. can really bind you up.
Good luck on your 3 hour

Hopefully the three hour will go better for you.
I had to take the iron too... yuck.

Fingers crossed that you pass the 3 hour and that this was just a fluke. Hang in there!
I also failed the 1 hr, but did pass the 3 hr. Hope you do too!
FWIW - Bring something to do. I brought my laptop and watched a movie (with headphones), it made the time go by very quickly. Also, bring something to eat immediately after the last blood draw. Something with lots of protein (I packed a PB&J) since your sugar will be so low, that you may not feel great.
Good luck!
Anyway.. I had gotten the call from the office saying that my numbers were a bit too high and they wanted me to come in and do the 3-hour GTT tomorrow. I will be going in at 830 (pacific time) to do the test.. I might not get the results until Friday afternoon.. so hopefully I will pass it this time!
On a good note? I only gained 5# between my two appointments which is so much better than gaining 10#!!!!! Whew! Anyway.. positive thoughts for tomorrow and I hope everyone else's tests comes out better for them as well!
