As a Nanny, I get 10 days of PTO per year. These are all days of my choosing- sick days for me or H, days I just feel like not working, etc.
In addition to that, I get 2 weeks unpaid vacation (they preferred it to be unpaid, and increased my weekly pay instead so it's the same by the end of the year), also timing of my choosing. When they go on vacation I'm still paid whether I watch him or not (they have the option to leave him with me while they're gone, with a hefty additional fee for overnights and additional hours). I haven't taken a vacation or personal days yet, but I'm supposed to try to coordinate with them as much as possible before planning anything.
I also get 8 paid holidays per year- New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.
I can send you a copy of my contract if you like. It was structured in a way that I'm not an actual employee of the family.
Here is the paid time off info from the contract with our nanny:
Flex time ? three days of paid time-off will be immediately available after the first 90 days of employment. After 90 days, you will accrue one day per month worked to a maximum of 10 days per calendar year. The maximum number of days that can be carried forward to the next calendar year is five. The nanny will give the employer 2 weeks notice of any upcoming vacations.
We give paid time off (she can choose when) and paid sick time. We also have some days that are unpaid unless our nanny chooses to use a vacation day (these are always mentioned up front months in advance). I don't feel comfortable posting specifics, but I'd be happy to email them to you if that would be helpful, michelle dot boss at gmail.com
