Gym nursery question

Today when I dropped DS off at the gym nursery so I could go work out he kinda had a rough time.  He was ok when we first walked in but as soon as he saw me walking the other way he had a fit.  One of the ladies took him and I left.  I could see him through a window in the room I was working out in and he was sitting in a stroller (I think eating a snack).  Well when I went to pick him up he was still in the stroller just sucking his thumb.  I'm sure they left him there because he wasnt complaining or asking to get out.  My question is, when I drop him off should I be sticking around till he's a little more comfortable (this is kind of new to him) or is it better to drop him off and "run"

Re: Gym nursery question

  • At this age I think telling them bye and making a quick exit works best (well, for us) because I know DD will be okay and the sooner I'm gone, the sooner she will get over me leaving.  If I linger, it drags out any drama.  Usually she is fine, though.

  • i'd drop him off and "run."  the longer you stay, the longer he's going to want you to stay.  i forgot to look and see how old your DS is.  my DD did great at the gym's playroom until about 1 mo ago.  she started this separation anxiety thing and it's still going on.  i can't take her to the playroom while she's like this - they give LOs 10 mins to stop crying and if they don't in that 10 mins, they come get you.  annoying, but understandable.  good luck.

He is almost 22 months.  And ours is the same, they give 15 min of crying and then come get you.
