Moving from bassinet to crib??

We're trying to move my son from his bassinet (where he was sleeping from 7:30-3:00 or so, eating, then sleeping until 7:00 or so) into his crib.  For the last two nights, he's been up every three hours.  I think that he feels like the crib has too much space around him.  Any suggestions on how to (safely) make it more cozy?  How long did this transition take for you?  To complicate matters, he's sharing the room with a sibling, so we can't let him cry for too long.

Thanks!

Re: Moving from bassinet to crib??

  • Try placing him in the crib for naps during the day so he becomes accustomed to it.  Use a pacifier to calm him so he doesn't wake his sibling.  It shouldn't take too long to transition!

  • You could try laying him on top of one of your shirts in the crib. ?This way he smells something?familiar?and comforting while in there. ??

  • Also, try playing with him in the crib for a bit when he wakes up so he'll see his crib as a friendly and inviting place and not just a place where mommy leaves him.
