My family was supposed to buy my dad a dog for Christmas. We went to the family's home, chose a puppy, and put down a $100 deposit. The day before I was supposed to pick it up, (Dec 29th) I contacted the lady to set up a time. She mentioned that the vet had detected a heart murmur in our puppy, but that it was probably nothing. After doing some research, I e-mailed her to say we no longer wanted the puppy, and asked her to send my deposit back. She argreed, and I gave her my address.
Fast forward nearly 2 weeks later. Still no check, and now she's ignoring my e-mails.
Now what do I do? They gave me a receipt, which I can't find. But they don't know that...
TIA
Re: Ugh. Somebody give me advice.
I'd just email her and say that you have the receipt, and if she doesn't return your money you'll contact the BBB.
I'm pretty sure good breeders register as businesses...ours was.
I will show up at her house with my boxers and demand the check back.
But really, do you know where she lives? Did she already cash your check?
Is she a member of any sort of breeding organization. You could email her that you are going to file a complaint if she doesn't at least respond to your email.
Do you have her phone number? I find a lot of times that I have to call someone that's being a jackass.
The puppy WAS a boxer, incidently.
I paid her in cash, and it was 6 wks ago. I know where she lives.
I would just email her and remind her that you know where lives.
Was the deposit nonrefundable? Perhaps you could email her back and say you've changed your mind and want the puppy? Maybe that would spark her attention?
Did you sign a contract?
Florida has a lemon law for pets. As in, if there is any defect detected within a year, they have to refund ay money you put towards the dog. Maybe look into that?
I would tell her she can either do this in a business manor or you will be forced to contact the police or a lawyer.
If she doesn't have a licences, I would be concerened about buying from her to begin with. I am evil and would contact animal control, if she didn't.
