Has anyone out there taken Music Together classes? I'm tempted to sign us up but they are a little pricey (since I'm pretty sure I'd have to pay for Sam at this point).
I am SO excited to finally have a kid that might actually SIT through this class and participate in the activities. I took the trial class with Ty and after chasing him around the whole time I never went back. Jake, however, seems to really enjoy music/circle time at our other classes so I am going to find a Saturday class for he and I to attend. It is pricey but no different than Gymbo or a Gym class.
I know there are quite a few Mamas here who have done and LOVED it!!
We did 3 sessions, starting from when N was only like four or five months old. We took a break for 2 sessions because of holiday expenses and travel, etc. We LOVE the classes and will re-enroll again this spring. It is pricey, but you also get 2 cd's and a music book and we listen to the music at home literally every day. I highly recommend it.
We are starting our 3rd session this week. We debated it for a while because of the cost, but decided it was worth it. E loves music and the Music Together CDs are his absolute faves. I'm really looking forward to this session because he'll be walking and more interactive, I'm hoping. For the first two he pretty much sat in my lap and watched the whole time, which was fun too.
We just started our second session with Emmalee this week. Yesterday was our first class and we love it. Last session Emmalee wasn't mobile but DH loved going with her and I. Yesterday since she is crawling, she was all over the place. She loves watching the kids dance and sing. We still have fun even now that she is mobile. She watches all the parents sing and dance and just smiles and laughs.
DH said last session not to expect him to go every week, he went every week that he wasn't sick. So that is saying something in my book. He loves going with E and watching her react.
When you think about the cost, divide the cost over the 10 week sessions, and you get 45 mins of music. The cost is pretty reasonable over the long run. The kids also play with instruments and props every week.
Another fan here! I find the CDs pretty annoying, but they are M's favorite CDs and are playing in our car all the time. They may offer a discount for a second child so I'd def. check on that. And I recommend doing a trial class unless you have had a specific teacher recommended to you - we didn't really "click" with the first teacher M had and he definitely enjoyed it more when we switched to a different teacher.
We're just starting a Music Together class in Millbrae next week! It's the babies only class - so only kids from 3-12 months. I'm really excited for it!
We started MT when Ryan was about 9 months old or so and continued until he was about 18 months. We stopped going for a while because he was more interested in running and getting himself scolded than in the music (ours is held in a dance studio so they don't want them running on a slippery floor with no shoes on...music made Ryan want to run). Anyway - we signed up last session and Ryan LOVED it more than ever. We had to take a break this session due to finances, christmas, taxes, and birthdays but I'm hoping to squeeze in one more session before the baby comes.
Oh - and Ryan STILL remembers some of the songs that we sang last year!
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
Caden has been going for about a year (actually- even more) now! He loves it! He started out sitting on my lap and observing most of the time, but now he dances, sings, interacts w/ the teacher, etc. Ditto on checking out teacher if you can. We LOVE ours, but we have gone to a couple make-up classes that weren't so great.
The program is fun for parents and kids (esp. if you like music). I have also tried Kindermusik and I wasn't at all impressed with them ( I do better on my own.)
Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
