We are probably going to get Kacey a toddler bed in the next few weeks. She is a very good sleeper 99.9% of the time so I thought she could handle it. She has climbed out twice but that was about a month ago, we don't have room for a twin bed now (we'll get bunk beds when #2 is old enough and then get rid of the toddler bed)
Anyways, last night Kacey was sick and woke up every couple of hours crying and wanting up. It made me rethink the toddler bed idea. What do you do when they are sick to keep them in bed? Do you lay down with them? Let them CIO by the door and have a gate up? We brought her into our bed but that was a disaster with noone getting much sleep.
Thanks!
Re: ?? for those that are using a toddler bed
When he is sick we abandon routine for hte most part becuase he's normally needing something when he wakes up as opposed to his normal 3 am wakeup where he just thinks he should be able to get up but we put him back to sleep. We use a gate at his door. He can get out of his bed on his own without any issues, it was coming into our room and standing next to us saying "Good morning!" that was the problem. Since we put the gate up we're down to one wake up a night, sometimes more but that is rare, and before he was up 5 times easy. Life is much better now. He did climb over it once in the past week which is new so we're going to have to get a second gate now to put at hte top of the stairs since his bedroom is directly facing the stairs and I'm worried he'll tumble. I think that is on our list of things to do today, actually.
