It used to be when I looked at swim skirts, I thought of my grandmother. She always wore swimsuits with a ruffled bottom "to hide my thighs". However, I think it might be better to go with a skirt for dealing with 2 kids and not having to worry about flashing everyone... or possibly shaving for that matter =P
So what's your take on it? Old lady or acceptable for mommy wear? I was looking at this one from Eddie Bauer but will look at Lands End too

Ditto.
I think as it's a slim, solid-colored skirt (like the one pictured) and not "ruffly" and patterned you'll be fine.
I've always loved them. Sure, there are some that are distinctly Your Grandma, but the good ones are all hot 40s pinup-y. I'm all about that.
ETA: And by "40s" I mean 1940s, not "Hi, I'm in my 40s."
I love my lands end one. I have this one and i love it. i could only get the tiny picture though.
Only if it's chilly out. On hot days, I like to show off my Lady Town by going nakeys.

I do think they ones I have are not matronly. And I am on the hunt for a new one this year. The kind that are made out of the "miracle" fabric are even better!

I was also going to suggest Athleta- their stuff is crazy cute. If they made tops for huge boobies I'd totally buy a suit from there. In any case, you'll look great in whatever you wear.
I prefer a backwards thong, myself, but I like your style.

I finally gave in and bought a swimming suit with a skirt bottom this past summer. It is kind of a retro-looking/1940's style but looks cute and not matronly. I have gotten tons of compliments on the suit, and it really minimizes my thighs and bottom, which are sadly not so minimal.
I feel so much less self-conscious with the little skirt, which is nice. Less need for a cover-up or shorts when out of the pool.
So I say go for the skirt suit.
LOL! What a great way to cover the rear!
