XP: Car Seat Compatibility

DH and I were browsing BRU for fun today and a fellow customer recommended we check out this website to see which brand/style of carseat is the best fit in your car.  Glad I checked it out, cause the one we were looking at was rated a poor fit in both mine and DH's car.  Just thought I'd pass the site along.

    Hm, we have 4 cars (one is a Corvette and doesn't have a backseat, so I don't think it counts!  lol)  ... neither of my 2 cars are listed (2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and 1999 Trans Am ... similar to the Chevy Camaro but there is no data listed for the Camaro!) ... but DH's beater car is listed and appears to work with just about anything!  Nice!

    Just don't do what my dh and I did.  We went with a more expensive seat, that looked really good, but it was kind of heavy even with a small baby in it.  My advice is to find a lighter seat with good safety ratings.

    When we were expecting in 2004, BRU actually permitted us to install their floor models in our cars to check the fit. Not sure if they have the same policy now though.

    I think the idea behind the website is good but I've tried using it before with no luck.  Our current car (VW Touareg) and carseat (Britax Boulevard) have no ratings (I did submit my own though) and all the cars we are considering for a future purchase do not seem to come up with any results with our current car seat or the infant seat (another Britax) we will be using - not very helpful - I hope it works for others.
