Engagement party etiquette ? (NEFR)

We are going to an engagement party tonight (really just an informal dinner). Should I bring a gift? They are not registered anywhere yet (wedding is in Sept). Maybe a bottle of wine?

I would. I'm of the thought that, unless they specifically say "no gifts", I don't come empty handed. I think a bottle of wine would be appropriate.
