2nd Trimester

WTH was that?

So two days ago I was laying in bed reading a book and I felt this weird, sliding feeling in my lower belly.  My breath caught and I thought: WTH was that? Then I thought about it for a second and realized it might have been the baby moving.  But I was only about 13w4d so I figured it was very unlikely that was it.  I know most first time moms usually don't feel the baby until much later.

Then last night I was playing my Nintendo 64 ('cause I'm cool like that) and I felt it again and my breath caught and I again thought: WTH was that? Then I realized it could've been the baby wiggling. So now I'm pretty much convinced it was the baby.  It was in the same spot as last time.  I know most women describe the baby moving as a "fluttering" but this had more substance than a flutter... it feels like something soft is rubbing/sliding/wiggling against the inside of my lower belly.

Also, my baby is big for it's age.  At my 6w appointment the baby was measuring 2 days ahead.  Then at my 10w appointment the baby was measuring 8 days ahead.  So if the baby is still growing at that rate... it could be as much as 2 weeks ahead... or who knows, maybe the growth slowed down a bit.

Anyways, thought I'd shareSmile

  • I'm almost 100% sure that what you felt is the baby. I felt my lil guy move that early on, too. Lots of people are skepticle but even my doctors confirmed that it happens and is completely possible - the only reason people doubt it is because they assume that when it's the size of peach it can be mistaken for "gas" or what not. As for me, I know what gas feels like and it's much different! CONGRATS!! Big Smile

  • I never had the 'flutter' feeling...I had a weird almost slithering feeling when laying in bed at like 14weeks but dismissed it...then at like 16 weeks I felt a definite kick.  So, it is possible it was the baby!

  • I feel wierd "pops:" every now and then. Almost like gas. Sometimes I even dismiss it and say "it cant be" but I like to think it is

  • I get you.  When I felt "flutters" it was more like a slimey fish swimming in my uterus, as awful as that sounds. And yes, I was feeling that at about the same time as you are now!  But now I'm feeling more little pokes :-)

Slithering-- that's an awesome (and creepy) word for it.  It felt like something was slithering inside me... which is why I freaked out at first both times!

  • totally a slipper noodle baby feeling! i feel it too! right on!!!!

  • Yep, I've felt something similar. Usually when lying in bed at night.
  • I was just going to post a movement question so I'm happy you did! I'm a little behind you, but the night before last I was in bed unable to sleep and I felt a little *tap tap tap* ?It wasn't like anything I've felt before and I can only assume it was LO... think it was??

I wouldn't be surprised if it was!  I'm sure you're pretty familar with your bodily functions/sounds/sensations and if it this feeling stuck out to you, then if probably was the baby.
