Hi everyone,
I'm brand new on the boards here! I love this name because it is not overly common but yet isn't out there, since it's a variation of Luke and Lucas--it's the Italian of Luke. It's popular in Europe more than here.
Our last name has 2 s's so, lucas seems too much, but I prefer this one anyways. I would love to know your thoughts on this. I'm not asking friends or family in case we go with it, so it can be a surprise--not due till June
A little note--I have been trying to find somethng that would incorporate one or both my my grandparents names and this one does--Lucia(lucy) and Luigi (Louie)
Anyways, sorry for the length, will keep the rest shorter...just want to get your take on it.
Thanks and nice to meet you!

I love Luca....and there is nothing feminine about it.
Personally, I adore the name Luca. It is SO cute! Are you Italian? Based off the names of your grandparents (totally assuming here) you are and it would fit nicely with your family.
I think you're on the right track!
I think Luca is a great name.
DH would like to use an Italian name if we have a boy (because he'll be born in Italy) and Luca is really one of the only Italian boy names I can take seriously. Unfortunately, BIL and SIL named their (very cute) dog that a few years ago, and I feel like I can't use it.
But you should go for it!
Thanks everyone!!
Our last name definitely isn't italian, so we've been avoiding Italian names like the plague because they all sound funny, but Luca is on that really sounds nice with our last name, so it doesn't seem so Italian. Only my mom's side is Italian, but my husband isn't.
Anyways thanks for the feeback!!

I love it. Seriously considered it for my baby whom I wanted to have an Italian name. We went with Vito which is very Italian sounding (and a family name). My other son has a Gaelic name b/c I wanted to honor both sides of my heritage. We have a very Irish last name, but I didnt worry about the Italian name with the Irish name. I am not much for "rules".
One reason I didnt use it is b/c I have seen people using it for their girls lately! I didnt want a name for my son that would potentially become a unisex name.
Luca is such a great name though........
Good luck!
Thanks for all the input! Really not sure why this is underline, it's not clicked on!
I love it.
But if your last name begins with an S, when said together it might sound like Lucas anyway. Just a thought.

Hi,
Yeah, we thought about that, but we still think that Luca sounds better than Lucas. Though Lucas is still nice!
