3rd Trimester

Should we rethink our boy name?

It's Connor John, but DH just informed me he remembered John Connor was the name of the Terminator character - I had no idea - I'm thinking most people wouldn't think of it and Connor is really the first name . . . So I'm thinking No.  Opinions???

Re: Should we rethink our boy name?

  • I would never have thought of that, lol, and I think it's a super-cute name!

  • I would not rename my baby because of a Terminator character.  I don't think most people would even make the connection.  If you like it, go with it!

  • HAHA, we had this problem. We were all set with Landon Michael until I remembered that Michael Landon played Pa Ingles on "Little House on the Prairie." I then insisted we change the name.

I still love Landon though, but not with Michael. Maybe for our next one! :)

  • I didn't even know that. I wouldn't change the name.
  • I wouldn't have thought of that, and it's not like he'll be introducing himself with his middle name.

While our MN is different, our boy name is Conor too.  There's always going to be something to associate a name with!!

  • No, Connor is a great name!  And while I did think of the Terminator movies when I read the name, it was probably only because DH made me watch all of them recently.  Besides, as others have mentioned in similar posts, the middle name is almost never used anyway.

    I vote to keep it!

  • I thought of Terminator as well. But I don't think that's a reason to change it, if you really really love it.

  • I think it's fine.  I wouldn't even shy away from John Connor if it were one of our names.
  • I would never of known that, and I think it's a cute name.  I say, keep it!

  • Funny - same exact problem . . . but I think yours may be more recognizable and was a real name . . . . hmmmm.  Do love Landon.

  • Nah you should keep it.  Plus that isn't what I thought when I heard it.
  • I wouldn't know since I never watched that movie. I think you should stick with it. How much do you really say the middle name anyways? We're naming our son Ian Tyler and Stephen Tyler comes to mind when I say it. Oh well!
  • I wouldn't worry about it. My cousin just informed me that Lilly Evans was Harry Potter's mom's name...so yeah, I would have never known. Nor would I have ever thought of Terminator. I did however think of Rosanne I think just because his name was Dan Connor and I think in real life his name is John Goodman right...anyway, lol.
  • We're having kinda the same issue because we like the name Cyrus but we're worried about Myle Cyrus/Billy Ray references but I agree if you like the name, stick with it - someone's always going to have an opinion on it one way or another.

  • I've never seen the Terminator, so I wouldn't make that connection. :)

  • no way. That is not a reason to even consider changing a name. That name is great....don't second guess it.

I never would have made that connection, and your LO's generation won't even know that movie. And, its not even the same name!

  • Don't change the name!! No one is going to think of the link b/w a Terminator character and your LO's name. lol
  • Definitely would not change for this reason.
