Question: If your lo goes to bed around 7:30 or earlier

Do you wake them to feed them again around 10 or when you go to bed?

We have been putting ds to sleep around 9:30 but he doesn't go down well and seems over tired.  today we decided to try something different and he went to sleep easily at 7:30.  Should I feed him again at 10 or so?  he usually does a 5-6 hour stretch when he goes down at 9:30.  I just want to get the max sleep time for me too.  He goes back to sleep easily once he has been asleep.

What do you think?

  • I would try just seeing how things go for a couple of nights without feeding.  I'm that's not working well...try dream-feeding before you go to bed.

  • Nope. She eats a lot between 4:30ish and 7 and she can make it 12 hours without eating. She gets a 5 oz bottle around 4ish, she eats a 2oz container of veggies when we eat dinner, then she gets another 5 oz bottle about 7 or whenever we get done with her bath and she is out for the night.

  • If this were me I'd see how it goes first.  I noticed w/DS if we miss that window he doesn't sleep as well.  But if he is bathed, lotioned and nursed before 8 he sleeps till around 8am.

  • DD usually goes to bed about 7 and then wakes up between 8 and 9 for her last feeding and then goes right back to sleep.  She has set this pattern for the past week and I hope it's going to stick because she has only been waking 1-2 times until 7am with this new earlier bedtime.  This is WAYY better than the 4plus times she was.  In my experience sticking to doing things their way is the best, so I would try letting your LO call the shots for a couple of nights and if that works out then go with it.  If not then start waking for a night cap :)

  • Ok I'm going to just see what happens.  Thank you for the advice.  I'm a little nervous but it might turn out great.  It was fun to finally watch a movie tonight.

  • LO goes to bed at 7:00, and I do a dreamfeed at 10:00. She usually makes it to 6:00, sometimes 7:00am.

  • I don't wake he - She eats the next morning.
  • DS goes to bed around 7. About half the time he wakes between 2-4 am and the other half he sleeps straight through until 6-7 am. He sleeps very well as long as we get him down before he's overtired.  I don't think it has much to do with being hungry anymore.
