Who else hates their Chicco highchair?

For the longest time I thought it was just because my DD is a sloucher.  but after putting her in a few other highchairs while visiting families I noticed she hardly makes a mess at all because they sit her completely upright.

Anyone else notice how annoying the Chicco chair is?  It's like she is reclining a little even when it's fully upright.  There are so many things about this highchair that stink, but this really bugs me.

  • Me!  My mom took mine apart to clean and I still cannot get the stupid thing reassembled correctly.  Oh, and the extra trays do not fit in the dishwasher.

  • We only used ours a few times and then gave it away to a friend - I hated it with a passion! DD is a petite kid and it just swallowed her up and cleaning it was a huge pain! We've been using a cheapy IKEA high chair since and love it!
  • Me, for sure.  I feel like I could scrub every nook and cranny of that thing from now until the end of time and still not get it clean.  In hindsight, I definitely regret registering for it.
  • We tried to warn so many of our friends that register for the same one, but they don't want our advice.  They shall see for themselves!

  • I hated it for all the reasons previously mentioned.  One day we put DD in it without a diaper because she had a diaper rash.  We put a towel underneath her and thought it would be fine if she peed.  It wasn't.  Instead of cleaning it up, I threw it away.  I just hated it too much to go through the effort!
  • ME ME ME!!!!  And food gets stuck in every freaking crevice.  It's impossible to clean.  And one of the straps broke after only a few months of use.

I finally got the FP booster that just attaches to the chair and threw the damn thing out.

SO many of the amazon reviews for this chair are negative!  I really wanted it but ended up not getting it because of the bad reviews. SO glad I looked that up before I went shopping!

  • Me....hate it!  I liked it when ds was really little, before he was eating.  I liked that it reclined and was on wheels so he could sit in it while I was working in the kitchen.  It totally swallows ds up.  I've wanted to ditch it so many times but have kept it because of the baby on the way and liking it early.  And....my dad bought it off our registry and is now living with us so I feel bad complaining about it too much.
  • I hate ours as well!  It is impossible to clean and therefore is never clean.  DD gets all kind of food in her lap all the time.  I have hated it from the get go.  We have a booster, but I don't want to eat in the dining room all the time and since we have a pedestal table it doesn't work out so well, so we just keep using the stinking high chair.  GRRRR.

  • Guess I'm the odd one out here, but we still use it and I like it!

Yeah, it's a bummer that the dishwasher-safe trays don't fit in the dishwasher. But otherwise, I've got no problems with it and I think it was a great buy. When the seat gets dirty, I throw it in the washer on the gentle cycle, hang it dry (it dries fast), and it has cleaned up beautifully for a year and a half now.

I'm so glad I didn't go with one of the highchairs with the plastic-y seats.

  • This is the ONE piece of baby equipment that I hated so much I had to get rid of it! Like a PP said, we use our FP plastic booster seat on a regular chair and love it!

  • I am with the other poster who likes her.  I don't have any issues with it....through the padding in the was fairly often and in the dryer on low heat, it comes out great every time.
