Two Under 2

When did you fall into a schedule?

When this baby is born, DD will be 16 months. Iam having another scheduled c-section. DH will be home with me for the first two weeks, my mom for a week after that, my MIL for a week after that. So for the first month, I will always have someone with me...well, during the day anyways. Im hoping that will give me time to get in somewhat of a schedule with DD and DS. Was it a easier after the first month? I guess Im really just worried about how to juggle the two of them with a very needy DD. Plus, DD had colic and reflux and hardly ever slept so it was pretty miserable for the first 5 months. She never napped, even when she was first born. She was 8 days old on her first Christmas and didn't sleep ALL.DAY.LONG. She was very sensitive to noise and people and it was horrible. Im just hoping this little guy will be easy.

Re: When did you fall into a schedule?

  • It was about 10-12 weeks before I felt we got into a good pattern. I had a scheduled c-section and had trouble for about 6 weeks before I was pain free. I was alone with both girls during the day after 4 weeks though. #1 baby was tough in so many ways. #2 was easy in all ways.

  • I'm not sure what kind of schedule you are looking for. Your second (or third, etc.) just kind of gets toted around a lot with the activities you have for your first.

I have had 3 very horrible sleepers (DS just started to STTN and he turned 1 a few weeks ago!), but other than that, DD# is more laid back, and DS is even MORE laid back.........

I am out and about by myself (I don't have any help around other than DH) at 2 weeks PP.

    Best wishes!

  • My 2nd was about 3 weeks old when he got into an eat/sleep pattern.  He has been way more mellow than my first.
  • DD is almost a month and is still not really on a schedule- each day is really different with her. DS has a pretty consistent schedule, so I just work around that with DD.
  • Wow, your Isabelle sounds exacly like my Isabela. I too am stressing about the schedule and the neediness of my DD. Good luck to you, i'll be out here struggling with you!
