Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

MC = so many other issues in life

I never knew that having a MC would bring on so many other issues. For example, getting the 5 separate bills from the D&C and some went to the wrong insurance, some have my maiden name, blah, blah. That last thing I want to deal with and PAY FOR is someone taking my baby. (And on my bill it showed up as a missed abortion...F'd up)

But secondly, my hubby and I decided at the end of 2009 we were going to put a big chunk of money into a Health Savings Account to pay for the birth and OB bills in 2010. I am not saying we won't get pregnant again and have a baby in 2010 but if we don't, that is a huge chunk of money I will have to use of cough syrup and crap I don't really need.

So, that is my rant. The MC is awful but the aftermath can be equally bad. Happy Friday Ladies! 5 more hours to go. I can do this!!!!!!

Re: MC = so many other issues in life

  • It is horrible how all of a sudden you have to deal with so much more.  I based all of my health insurance decisions on the fact that I was pregnant.  So, I didn't choose the insurance that offered some coverage for infertility treatments and instead choose the one with the cheap hospital deductible.  I based my health savings money on being pregnant not on needing $3,000 to do a frozen embryo transfer.  I bought $250 worth of maternity clothes only to have to pack them up and hope someday I get to wear them again.

On top of that I've been dealing with how disappointed I've been in some of my friends and family's reactions to our loss.

It's hard enough to deal with a loss much less all these other things.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

    This-

I had my D&C on October 20th and I am still dealing with the fact that they messed up my insurance paperwork. I can totally relate!

  • I had an issue with one of my bills also, because for some reason my dr billed my old insurance for one thing and bill the correct insurance for everything else.
