Best baby gift? $30 ish?

What would you think would be the best baby gift to give someone for between $30-40?

I know we all have our favorites, so I want to see if we can come to any consensus and I can get my cousin an awesome gift!

I guess maybe the Boppy? Useful, but not so "awwww" at a baby shower.

  • I dont care much for "aww" Id rather have something that would make my life easier with a baby. I second the Moby wrap, it was a lifesaver.
  • I like the moby idea!

You could do good teethers like Sophie, razberry, teething tablets, etc.

  • Play mat? I know some are more than that, but this one fits the price range (and aren't they all really the same?):

Also, my favorite thing was the Miracle Blanket, which is about $30 - could also include a copy of Happiest Baby on the Block?

  • Our Boppy was our most-used baby item for quite some weeks.  I'd go with that if you want something practical.
  • Yes - and the Boppy continues to be used in our house at 20mos! It became almost a lovey for DD and she plays with it, lays on it, etc.
  • Baby Crack Machine - homedics lullaby sound spa (about$20)
  • I 2nd the Baby crack machine.  Bed Bath & Beyond has it for $19.99 and with your 20% coupon it comes out to about $14-15.

  • The moby hands down.

My bouncer was in the price range too, and it was also quite handy, but nothing really compares to the greatness of my moby those first three months.

  • I like the baby crack machine idea.  Maybe you could do a "Wishing the New Mommy a Good Nights Sleep" kinda theme...baby crack machine, Happiest Baby on the Block book or another one you loved (we liked one everyone on the nest hates:), a swaddler or something...just things that you know help LO's STTN or worked for you/LO.

I also loved and used my Boppy forever.  So that's a good one too.

  • Boppy for sure. We still use it and DS is almost 2.
  • A little basket with all of the crap you'd never want to have to run out in the middle of the night to get: Infant Tylenol & Motrin, Mylecon, Gripe Water, Baby Oragel, ect.

Boogie Wipes are also a great addition, and maybe some diaper cream and Lanisoh (not just used for breastfeeding - can be used on dry baby skin and is awesome).

miracle blanket and HBOTB, hands down.

Or babylegs if you want the aww factor. I like either uber practical things, or fun, yet practical things you would never buy yourself because they are ridiculously expensive.

I agree--HBOTB video saved our lives!
Other things I couldn't have done without:
Aden and Anais blankets (I think Target has 4-packs for $30-ish now) and
Bouncy chair (around $35 and worth $35 million!)

  • HBOTB DVD for sure - who has time to read the book??  That DVD SAVED us!!!!

swaddling blanket - i loved aden and anais too or Swaddle Designs because they are huge

if you are worried about aww, go to esty.com and buy one the amazingly cute hats!!

  • I like to look on the registry and purchase the items that I found most useful and include a little note on why they were so great.  Otherwise it was really nice to get some of the older baby stuff like sippies and nice bigger bibs.
