Definately not! DD NEVER would nap in her crib and I was tired of holding her for over a year while she napped, so I tried the mattress on the floor like crackerjack suggested and she did so well.

Great! I'm glad it's going so well then. You can't blame them for not wanting bars around them when they're not used to it right?
I'm sure she already knows how, but just make sure she knows to crawl backwards off the bed and you'll be set. DD knows this but seems to not care most of the time and now that our bed here is up high we're always worried. Thankfully she's not usually in bed with us anymore!

That is adorable! I am waiting until the summer to put Ds in a non crib bed. He would not nap if he was not confined.
