Babies: 3 - 6 Months

do you have to stick with Ferber for bedtime AND naps??

We are thinking of starting Ferber very soon - maybe this weekend or next.  LO doesn't wake up that much but it is becoming obvious that he is waking up more at night for our comfort than necessity, and we are comfortable with the CIO approach.  BUT, I am not a SAHM and can't enforce the same naptime rituals and CIO approach during the day...  My mom watches him and is not comfortable with Ferber.

My pedi said that naps are different for babies and that it is okay to only try Ferber at bedtime but I've also heard conflicting opinions about this.

Anyone have success with Ferber ONLY at bedtime?  I don't want to confuse DS but want to start sleep training soon.

TIA!

  • I didn't do Ferber but you can only do it for bedtime.  Naps you do the same thing but you limit everything to 1hr.  If no nap in an hour you get them up...or so I've read.

That's what I heard, too.  However, I would think after an hour of crying any LO would be tired... I know I am after an hour of crying.
