3rd Trimester

Anyone planning on getting Shrinkx?

It's this new hip slimming belt that's you're supposed to wear right after childbirth (well, if it's a c-section, you may want to wait a couple weeks)...but has anyone heard of it or anything like it? or used something like this before? the results really seem impressive. Curious to hear thoughts.. https://www.mamaista.com/2010/01/08/diets-are-so-2009/

  • I highly doubt that is an effective weight loss solution

  • definitely not getting it. The first time around my belly shrank each day on it's own for four weeks. The little bit that was left shrunk after I was done nursing at one year and the muscles returned to where they were prepregnancy after that. I think it would actually make your muscles not have to work as hard bc it is holding it in for them. Now if they have something that will make the funky wrinkle thing go away that your skin does when you bend over after having a baby I'm game for that.
  • I know a ton of people with these and they LOVE THEM! It doesn't really help you "lose weight" it just holds everything in that area "up". I believe the science behind that is during pregnancy/L&D your body produces Relaxin which just "relaxes" the muscles...leaving them a little droopy and flabby looking. This holds everything in place so that when the Relaxin goes away it keeps everything up and not flabby.

    I plan to get one!

  • I don't know if I would get one.  It sounds like it just using pressure to pull your hips back in place, it doesn't really mention weight loss, just "widening loss".  With the pain my hips and pelvis have been in with baby's pressure on them, I don't know if I could opt to have the pressure from that try to do the reverse.  Honeslty, I can't even wear my BeBands anymore because they put too much pressure on my hips, maybe I'll just go back to wearing those after LO arrives.

  • Any kind of diet or weight loss product that seems "easy", probably isn't that effective.

I think the best way to get your figure back is through good old-fashioned diet and exercise.

  • I bought a waist girdle similar to this one from Amazon- and I plan on wearing it upon being released from the hospital (not in the hospital, since they check you so often, etc).  I've heard good things about it- it also helps with your posture post-baby, and keeps all your "flabby skin" where it is supposed to be.... I'm game for anything that helps me get back to pre-baby size as soon as possible! LOL

  • I too am going the old fashioned route of diet and exercise and have been keeping up with both during the entire pregnancy.

  • My sister gave me a belly bandit which is a similar product but it covers more of your stomach too. She had good results from it. She was back in her prepregnancy jeans a couple weeks after giving birth.
  • Mine came in the mail this week!  I'm not too concerned about losing the weight because I can do that, but the fact that my hip bones have actually shifted is worrisome.  Hopefully this helps--it can't hurt to try!
  • my mom is a nurse and is a firm believer in wearing the stomache girdles and underwear girdles after having the baby, she swears that they help support your skin and muscles while your body is strengthening and returning back to its former shape. She says it keeps your skin from sagging and muscles from sagging, but you have to give your body time to return to normal, it's not a magic fix or weight loss solution, just extra support. The ones she always points out cover more of the stomach area than that one and look to be comfortable and stretchy. I'm definitely going to try something like that, why not?
