I thought it would take a lot longer than it did to get pg w/#2 and now I'm feeling like we need a new vehicle. With two children in carseats/boosters for the forseeable future, plus a large dog, plus the occassional need to bring along people other than just the four of us, I feel like we need a minivan or SUV w/a third row. I'm ready to suck it up and drive a minivan, but DH really doesn't want one. He'd rather go the sport utility route. I want ease and convenience, I think my hands will be full enough as it is!
What do you guys drive? Do you love it? Hate it? Rue the day you got it?
Re: What kind of vehicle?
I have two kids in carseats (a 20 month old and an 8 month old). Our honda pilot is great when its just the four of us plus the 2 dogs...it even works with another person but the 3rd row is a real pain to get to cause the car seats dont let for easy access and basically you get in through the trunk or jump over. We will be getting a mini van. THe odessey is our top choice.
We have a Suzuki XL-7. For the price, I really like it! We got the optional 3 road seating and have used it quite a bit for the dog. With the third row folded down, there's plenty of room for the stroller.
My parents have a Saturn Outlook and I LOVE their car! The main thing that I really like is that the second row is two captain chairs. It's easy to get to the backseat without folding any seats down!
Minivans make me shudder, so that won't ever be happening. We just bought a Toyota Sequoia in preparation for #2 and I LOVE it. Plenty of room for two kids in car seats, the dog, travel gear, other passengers, a double stroller, groceries, shopping, etc. (Maybe not all those things at once though, haha.) I love the way it drives, I love the way it looks, I love the DVD player that I know the kids will enjoy on long trips once they're both forward facing.
We also considered the Tahoe, but in the end, Toyota won out.
(read it. you know you want to.)
