Re: generic medela gel pads?

  • I never dealt with cracking nipples but was super sore for a while.  I liked the idea of Lanolin but the Lansinoh brand was so thick I didn't like having to put it on sore nipples.  I read on here that someone recommended the First Years nursing pads with Lanolin already on them (or you could apply the cream to your own pad of choice) anyway I got them and still use them......LOVE THEM and they make me feel so much more comfortable.  The only downside is that BRU is the only place I know that sells them.

  • Mine were cracked and my LC gave me some antibiotic ointment to put on the nursing pads. That cleared it up right away. I used another brand of the silicone pads and they sucked. They were WAY too sticky and you could only use them once. The Medela ones cost more, but you can use them for a month and they don't hurt to remove. Definitely worth it to get another pair, you won't need the forever.
