Creepy FB comment (long)

Backstory:

The wife of my DH's best friend (who I've only met a few times, they MET a year ago, after he broke off two engagements, and got married this summer) - is a little odd.  The type who will ask, "Oh are you staying home?" and then," Oh, daycare... yeah, hopefully you'll reconsider" type.  She is completely anti-vacc, anti-working mom, organic-only, and baby crazy.  Like, she has the names of her "first 8 kids to be" picked out already (I know her DH's salary, good luck with that with where they live).  She was also upset about a few things when I saw them over December.  One - she wa pregnant at their wedding, like...  three months, and her FI at the time didn't know, and she was upset because we told him about ours before we left the reception (we don't live nearby, DH wanted to tell him in person), and we "stole her baby's thunder."  Whatever, all of your 30 minute long vows about being open and honest were a farce since your DH married you without you telling him you were 3 months along.  Also, I'm REALLY showing, and she... well, she isn't really.  This upsets her.

Anyway, like I said she is a bit baby crazed - she has pics of babies (like, her with other peoples' babies) all over FB, her house in frames, etc.  Today, however, I noticed a very creepy FB status update:  "Last night I dreamed that X and Y (meaning me and DH) gave us their baby, so we had two.  We decided to name their baby Caleb.  Which, by the way, is a name we have never even discussed...."

Ok, seriously?  I try and comment on her posts, since I think it would be nice if we stayed on good terms with our DH's being childhood friends.... so, it would look odd if I didn't comment.  But seriously?  Wtf, lol, I really feel creeped out by this!  NO idea what I should say... am I alone in thinking this is really weird??

  • You can't help what you dream, but I'm not sure I would have posted it on fb.  Tell her if she wants two she will have to do it herself!

  • She's crazy. :)

I personally wouldn't be able to comment other than to say "WTF!"  lol.

When is she due?  Are you positive she is pg???

  • That is totally creepy!!!! You should reply with 'remind me to scratch you off the list of potential babysitters.'

She sounds like a nightmare. I've had my share of some overly opinionated folks (one responded to my decision to not use a travel system with "Have you MET a baby before?").. though generally well meaning. In this case, she just seems impossible to tolerate. If she seriously expects she won't have to make compromises herself once baby comes around, she's in for a shock.

She's due in April.  When I saw her last month, she wasn't showing AT ALL.  Mind you, I wasn't shocked - I am short, she is tall, and I'm almost a month ahead, but she was upset because she could see my LO moving around, and she didn't even feel flutters at that point.  She has a u/s pic on FB, so I assume she is pg, but seriously... not much fazes me, but this... maybe it's protective mother instinct kicking in.  Even my DH was like, wow that is friggin creepy, and NOTHING fazes him (then again, he knows the girl).

  • That would have totally creeped me out.  What a looney.  Definitely don't trust her with your baby alone for a second.

  • Hm. I don't think I'd say anything and would slowly back away... lol Sounds like the kind of person you may have to see from time to time if your DH is best friends with her husband, but otherwise, I'd just let her do her own thing and not get too involved. Why are some people so weird??

FWIW, these things don't necessarily go hand-in-hand. I'm a SAHM (not anti-working mom, though) that  vaccinates, etc.

Anyways, yes, it's a very strange comment. She sounds "special." But since she's married to your H's friend, you shouldn't rock any boats over a fb comment- as weird as it was.

  • I think you should put a response along the lines of making it obvious how crazy she is but being joking, like....

"What a crazy thing to dream!"

"Pregnancy sure makes for some crazy dreams!"

I know, and I should've clarified with "... and judgmental about those who choose to do otherwise."  My bad on that one.  When I said anti, I mean ANTI.

  • I would never post that on face book.

She isn't the type that is faking a pregnancy and then steals someones baby, is she?

I'd probably respond somewhere along the lines of these suggestions or "Haha, we're still planning on keeping him, but I'll let you know if I change my mind! ;)".  She does sound strange, but I know I've had really strange dreams during this pregnancy!  I just don't post about them on FB!

I have no idea, seriously - heck, her and her DH only MET a little over a year ago.  I guess u/s pics can be photoshopped too, ugh!

I don't sleep well as it is, this will NOT help matters.

Ditto...I can't help the strange dreams I have but I would NEVER post THAT on FB!!  I've had a dream kinda similar but in reverse...it was MY baby that was TAKEN away and given to another couple that I DIDN"T know.  But still I didn't post that on FB even.  I think she sounds very tacky and without class.  Just be sure that your LO isn't intereacting with them much...they sound like a psycho bunch.

  • yikes. i agree... keep your distance. at least till she has proof that she's given birth to her own child!! lol
  • 'CREEPY' is totally right and that would be my EXACT comment on her FB.  "Creepy"....see if she gets it...
  • lol, a minor update - after I made that (very safe and civil response as suggested) - she didn't reply - only gave the post a thumbs up!  DH thinks he is going to post "Creepy! :) " and he said it will leave her wondering because its hard to take offense at a comment if it is smily-faced, lmao.
